Finally! Red Dye For Dark Hair

I've wanted magenta in my hair for the longest time. Naturally my hair is a light brown but I am constantly dying it dark brown. My first attempt at adding some red flare to my hair was a fail. If I remember correctly I used Natural instincts Egyptian Plum but my dark color refused to let the plum shine through. Several attempts later I thought all hope was lost. Then I heard we finally got a Sally's Beauty Supply in my area and headed there right quick.

I came out with Loreal Excellence HiColor Highlights in Magenta and a 20 volume developer. I was doubtful at first but the 'For Dark Hair Only' gave me a glimmer of hope. The result: AMAZING.

I colored the bottom section of my hair. The color was VERY vibrant at first. While the box was labeled 'Magenta' it came out red. Like, fire hydrant red. I was a little upset but still liked it none the less. The color continued to wash out of my hair for awhile. It ended up fading to a magenta color after seven or ten washes and I loved it.  Once it settled down to that color it stayed. No fading, no dullness, nothing.

Yes, this is the best picture to show you the color.
No, I did not take the picture seriously.
Also why my man is leering in the background.
No shame. :]

The color stayed until I dyed over it again with dark brown (at least 3-4 months). So, my final satisfaction rating. HIGHLY SATISFIED. The color itself cost about $5 which was much cheaper than other boxed dyes. A 20 vol. developer cost $4, another great deal for the amount. Both products were bought at Sally's Beauty Supply Store.

Good morning! So I just started my new job yesterday and I already love it. My official title is a Direct Support Professional. I'll be working with older people suffering from developmental disabilities, down syndrome, epilepsy and so on. It's going to be so rewarding and I just cannot wait. :]

Anyhoo, this means I'll have steady pay again which I'm VERY excited about. Not having money for two weeks has been very stressful. With my new pay I plan on getting as many items on my wishlist as I can then using them and reviewing them, all for you my lil' loves! Okay, and maybe for me.. ;] I am going to wait on the hair dye though due to a fresh dye job. Heck, I'll probably end up splurging at Sally's since I haven't been there in awhile. Haa, self control Michelle, c'mon..

I'll try to get a review on her today before work but no promises! If not  before then I definitely will after.

So far my poll is showing that you'd like to see more eye makeup but it's not closed yet!
Thanks a lot everyone who has viewed my blog so far and dealt with it's mess. :]

Have a lovely day!

Split Ends Got You Down?

Nobody likes split ends. That's a fact. We've all dealt with split ends before. They are one of the worst enemies when it comes to growing and maintaining healthy hair. Here are some tips and advice on how to both prevent these little hair devils and my favorite product to strengthen your ends.

  • Use as little heat as possible when doing your hair. When heat is necessary for styling, ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS use a heat protector spray. Spray the hair liberally before applying the heat and while straightening, curling, or blow drying.
  • Put down the brush. While you obviously need to brush out your hair while styling do not over brush it. Constantly brushing can cause split ends.
  • Trim, trim, trim. Every six weeks or so you should give yourself a little trim job. This will help prevent split ends and help you hair grow.
  • Do your research. There are a lot of products out there that promise to reverse the effects of split ends but they do not all work.

Since we are based on budgets on this blog I thought I''d share with you my FAVORITE split end treatment cream. It is Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship Split End Leave-In Protector.

I know, it's a mouth full but this stuff is really great. I bought it for four or five dollars at my local CVS drugstore. I had split ends like a mad woman and had tried a couple other serums and creams without satisfaction. This little beauty was discovered when I strayed away from the big names and settled for something a little more common. I'm glad I did. This stuff worked WONDERS for me. After a couple weeks of using this cream I saw healthier, shiner, and stronger hair. Just like all Herbal Essences products this cream smells AMAZING. I recommend this product one hundred time over!

So, if you are having some split end mishaps remember the advice above and please, try out this cream. I promise you'll love it.

Why Hello!

Hello! So, this is the very first blog I have made. I love watching tutorials and learning new tips and tricks from others but I have found that some of the products used are just too pricey for me.
I have built up a collection of the best and cheapest products around that will help you get the amazing looks for half the price. Hopefully I will soon have tutorials, tips, trends, advice, and all that comes with it. I will definitely have product reviews on mostly anything related with makeup or hair products EXCEPT nails.
I am not good at doing nails so I'm leaving it to the professionals. ;]

So thanks for checking all this out and expect more from me in the near future!
